Higher Education Support

With provision for high quality careers guidance often not possible in schools due to funding restrictions, young people and parents are often left to struggle through the minefield of applying to university etc on their own. With tuition fees at an all time high and the average cost of a university education quoted as being around £45,000.00, now more than ever before, support is needed to guide parents and young people through the process. From learning how to choose a course that’s right for you, through to selecting universities and applying for student finance.

I can support and guide you as a family in how to minimize the risks of ending up on the wrong course at the wrong university. You might have questions such as:

  • If I choose Geography or History etc where might this lead in the future?

  • What are campus universities?

  • Which A level’s are necessary for engineering?

  • What are UCAS points?

  • Do I need to take entrance tests for certain courses?

  • How can I identify which courses I might be suited to?

  • Who are the Russell Group of universities?

  • What is a sandwich degree? (clue, it’s not free sandwiches every day for four years !!!)

The answers to these questions and many others which I have been asked over the past 15 years will be answered.

The Times Educational Supplement wrote in 2014 that lack of support for young people kills dreams. I wholeheartedly agree with this, which is why I wanted to re-train in 1999 as a careers adviser gaining the level 7 Diploma in Careers Guidance and Post Graduate Diploma in Advice, Guidance and Counseling. I wanted to help young people believe in themselves and achieve their full potential.

“Dear Ivana, I want to say a massive thank you for all your help - as you know when I came to see you I was at a very low ebb and your input, advice and guidance was just the tonic to get me going again.”

“ I’d told myself that I didn’t want to go to university, but you helped me see that it wasn’t that I didn’t want to, but didn’t believe I was capable. After going through some of my options and finding a course that has really inspired me, I’m attending open days and really excited about the future, Thank you!”
